There it is! The very first printout of my debut novel!!! I still can’t believe that I’ve actually written a whole freaking novel all by myself! But looking at it printed out on paper, ready to be read from beginning to end for the very first time makes it feel a little more real to me. I’ve noted down tons of silent revisions already while I was writing, so I know that this first edit is going to be a shitload of work. And let me tell you, I’m more than a little intimidated by the imaginary mountain I see myself climbing in the next couple of weeks😅.
But first things first: Let me fill you in on what I’ve been doing during the last couple of weeks:
While I forced myself to take a break from my debut baby, I used the freed-up time to put some more effort into finishing this – my author – website, and considering that I started out absolutely oblivious when it comes to website building, I think it turned out pretty damn well in the end 😊.
At the same time, I started drafting the second novel in the series (I’m currently planning three books in the same universe), which I’m very excited about, because that story has been haunting my brain since I was about halfway done with the first book. So while not even drafted on paper yet, the mc’s of book two have already become very, very precious to my little romantic heart ❤️. Right now, the outline is roughly drafted and I have meticulous character descriptions of those boys ready to be pressed into an actual novel 😂. I’ve started writing on the first chapter, but didn’t get very far before I headed to my big summer vacation!
I went on a two-week camping trip to the land of the moose with hubby and our two gremlins aka our sons (six and seven years old). We were fortunate enough to get sunny weather mostly, and we had a blast exploring the lakes and the fairy tale woods of southern Sweden. Still, my sons did somewhat drain my energy during that trip and I’m more than happy to be back home to finally tackle that mountain of work that is editing my debut novel 😉.
While I’ll be sitting through my first reading, probably having multiple breakdowns attempting to fix all the plot holes and character inconsistencies that may or may not exist in my first draft, please be patient and stay tuned! Follow me on social media and sign up to my newsletter for all the hot updates. I know I’ve been scarce with details on my work so far (perfectionalism, you jerk!), but once the major edits are done and my debut is going to beta readers, I will be sharing more tidbits.
